Common Questions About Fees

Why do immigration consultants charge professional fees?

Licensed immigration consultants invest significant time in understanding your situation, preparing accurate applications, staying current on frequent policy changes, and representing you professionally before IRCC. Errors or omissions in immigration applications can result in refusals, delays, or bans — costs that far exceed professional fees. An RCIC's job is to protect your application and maximize your chances of a successful outcome.

Can I apply for immigration on my own without a consultant?

Yes — most immigration applications can be submitted independently. However, immigration law is complex and changes frequently. Many applicants who apply on their own make errors that result in refusals, additional processing time, or missed opportunities to strengthen their application. If you choose to apply on your own, Asteco also offers document review and coaching services — consult us to discuss your options.

Do I pay all fees upfront?

Asteco's fee structure varies by service and will be clearly outlined in your retainer agreement before you commit. Government fees are typically paid at the time of application submission. Your retainer agreement will specify exactly when and how fees are payable.

Are government fees refundable if my application is refused?

Most government processing fees paid to IRCC are non-refundable if your application is refused — with some exceptions. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) is refundable if your PR application is not approved. Biometrics fees are generally non-refundable. Always confirm the refund policy for specific fees at canada.ca before submitting your application.

What happens to Asteco's fee if my application is refused?

This is outlined clearly in your retainer agreement before you engage our services. We believe in complete transparency about fee arrangements. Book a consultation and we will walk you through exactly what happens in every scenario before you make any decision.
