Dependent Child Sponsorship

Sponsoring your dependent child is an option for Canadians who have obtained status for themselves and who seek to be reunited with their dependents abroad. Eligible permanent residents and Canadian citizens who qualify to sponsor may facilitate their dependent for permanent resident status.

In order to be eligible for this program, both the Canadian citizen or permanent resident (also called the 'sponsor') and their child abroad (the 'sponsored person') must be approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in order for the sponsored person to receive a visa.

As you intend to be sponsoring your dependent child, there are few factors that you should consider. Essentially, you will need to demonstrate the validity of your relationship as well as the fact that you qualify to sponsor the dependent.
