INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE CANADA

Canada has a bilateral Youth Mobility Agreement with over 25 countries. This agreement allows citizens between 18 and up to 35 to apply for Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exempt work permits. Candidates can apply:

Working Holiday

​

Working Holiday program allows applicants to receive an open work permit for up to two years. Basic eligibility criteria is:

​​

  • be a citizen of a member state which has a Youth Mobility Agreement with Canada or use a recognized organization

  • have a valid travel document from the same country
  • have to prove your residency in the same country

  • be between the ages of 18 and up to 35 (depending upon your Nationality)

  • have some minimum funds to cover your expenses in Canada

  • have health insurance for your stay in Canada

  • not be inadmissible to Canada

  • have a round trip ticket or show that you have financial resources to purchase a departure ticket at the end of your authorized stay in Canada

  • pay the applicable government fee

Working Holiday

Young Professionals

Under this category, citizens of participating countries can gain valuable international experience by working for a Canadian company. Basic requirements are:

  • be a citizen of the participating country

  • hold a valid travel document from the same participating country

  • be between the ages of 18 and up to 35 (depending upon your Nationality)

  • have some minimum funds to cover your expenses in Canada

  • have health insurance for your stay in Canada

  • not be inadmissible to Canada

  • have a round trip ticket or show that you have financial resources to purchase a departure ticket at the end of your authorized stay in Canada

  • have a signed letter of offer or contract of employment in Canada (the employment offer must be in your field of expertise and contribute to your professional development

  • pay the applicable government fee

Young Professionals

International Co-op Internship

This category allows citizens of participating countries who are enrolled at a post-secondary institution in their country of citizenship to spend a period of time interning for Canadian companies. Basic requirements are:

  • be a citizen of the participating country

  • hold a valid travel document from the same participating country

  • be between the ages of 18 and up to 35 (depending upon your Nationality)

  • have some minimum funds to cover your expenses in Canada

  • have health insurance for your stay in Canada

  • not be inadmissible to Canada

  • have a round trip ticket or show that you have financial resources to purchase a departure ticket at the end of your authorized stay in Canada

  • have a signed letter of offer or internship contract in Canada 

  • pay the applicable government fee
